How to Get Passport of the Republic of Panama

Existing legislation controlling the getting of Panama’s passport — Law 9 of June 24, 1987 (Published in the Official Gazette N?20835 of July 2, 1987) and the Executive Decree N?62 of August 4, 1987 (Published in the Official Gazette 20869 of August 20, 1987)

Procedure is following

  1. Opening the account in the State Bank of Panama
  2. Getting the passport

Papers to open a deposit in the State Bank of Panama are the following:

  1. Three letters of commercial references — two of which must be provided by financial institutions.
  2. Three letters of personal references.
  3. Two complete photocopies of the applicant’s passport.
  4. Application Form of Opening of Account. This form can be obtained at any branch of the National Bank of Panama — (we provide you with the sample).
  5. Application Form of Verification of References in the Panamanian Association of Credit (APC), independent of the nationality and the applicant’s home. This form should be completed by the applicant before an official of the National Bank, unless she/he confers Special Power to another person for the realization of this step — (we provide you with the sample).
  6. Profile of the Client. This form should be completed by the applicant before an official of the National Bank, unless she/he confers Special Power to another person for the realization of this step (we assist to fulfill this form).

The papers 1-3 have to be certified by the consulate of the Republic of Panama or have apostil.

Papers to get passport of the Republic of Panama are the following:

  1. Certification by the National Bank of Panama that accredit that applicant to generate a minimum monthly income of only US $750.00 product of the interests of the time deposit — and US $100 for each member of the family. For this purpose it is necessary to deposit about US $ 200 000 for the householder and US $ 25 000 for each member of the family to the National Bank of Panama. Deposit has to be not less than 5 years. Interest on deposit of The National Bank of Panama is about 5.25 per cent per annum. You will be given the deposit certificate.
  2. Good health certificate that indicated that the applicant do not suffer any disease (we provide you with the sample).
  3. Two complete photocopies of passport or document valid for travel.
  4. Certificate of good conduct.
  5. Letter stating your parent’s name and nationality (we provide you with the sample).
  6. Sworn declaration certified by the court (we provide you with the sample).
  7. Power of attorney issued for our company in Panama to represent you to governmental bodies in Panama (we provide you with the sample).
  8. Petition (we provide you with the sample).
  9. Six ID photographs – If you have a wife she has to have the certificate of marriage and for the children under 18 birth-certificates.

The listed papers have to be certified by the consulate of the Republic of Panama or have apostil.

Passport renewal should be done every 5 years on condition that your have deposit in the National Bank of Panama. To open the account in the National Bank of Panama and to get the passport the client must be present in Panama. We will provide you with visa assistance.

This passport does not make you a citizen of Panama (which you can have after 5 years staying in this country) but you will have free access to the following 34 countries which have a certain agreement with the Republic of Panama.
